What I want to find out about my audience?

As I'm going to be designing a website which is to do with films, I want to find out what users think is the most important parts on these websites as well as what they find annoying on them. This is important in my eyes as it means I can get what users want on my website.

Why I'm going to be researching a certain film:

I'm going to be researching a film because this way I can get an understanding of certain features that I will be needing on my website. It also means I then have some films that I can use on my website.

How am I going to get my research?

I am going to be getting some of research by creating an online questionnaire this will be for people on my course to answer online. I will send to them but I will also post it on social media so that I can get as many responses as possible. I also will be using the internet to get some additional research including important information about what's on the websites. I also want to look at the design aspects of the websites as design and the website content is what I am going to be focusing on for my website.

Analysing My Research, Report.

Introduction:

This report is all about the different audiences to do with a certain film and what's important on cinema websites. I need to find out what I should have on my website as It needs to be relevant to the user and not have things they don't want or need. This is including the content on the websites and the layout of them.

Research Methods:

Primary Audience Research:

To find out what people thought about what's the most and least important on film related websites as well as to get some demographic research I did a questionnaire, The Questionnaire had some multiple choice questions on it as well as some questions which required a text answer. I did an analysation on the questionnaire here (http://assignmenthreekylejaywilkinson.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/audience-feedback-questionnaire-thingy.html), The actual questionnaire can be found here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1nghSMO436fv92Wyg0dbsTwesV-wFR4H4uTUQF8Dwiz8/viewform).

Secondary Audience Research:

The first secondary research that I did was that I looked on various websites and looked at the ratings each website gave for the film done by users. Some examples are below.
The Film has received good results with it receiving an average of 4.3 by the reviewers. I would say having read a few of them that the audience seems to be a lot of people who have kids and have bought or seen the film with there children. This does make sense as was said on a .pdf on this page http://goo.gl/41opNThttp://goo.gl/41opNT, "Fantasies Appeal to the age ranges of around 10 - 14 years of age." With the evidence of the reviews on websites this does show.

Website Analysis
I also did some research by searching around on the website, this was mainly done for the Website Analysis powerpoint which I did. This helped with the layout of websites part of my research. This powerpoint can be found here. (https://drive.google.com/open?id=16m0voCH5ifRcu0dfMb9MUKB4MqrVh0iUbe5vS_Wow2U). The primary research I used was the questionnaire and the looking around on the internet for that powerpoint was the secondary research that I used.)

The Things I Most Certainly do need on my website!! (And the things ya don't.)

On my website, I most certainly need a page with movie reviews on it. From my research I can clearly tell that a lot of people look for these and that they provide good feedback for the film that I'm advertising. Like every other website the reviews will be biased and only show the positive feedback given. I'm going to make some assets for my website as well and the way these are going to be laid out will be key so that the design of the website doesn't make them want to leave it but instead try to advertise it as much as possible.  The one thing I don't want on my website is a poorly designed layout this is including the colours.

Audience Feedback : Questionnaire Thingy, Report [Part 2]. (Primary Research)

A link to my questionnaire is here. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1nghSMO436fv92Wyg0dbsTwesV-wFR4H4uTUQF8Dwiz8/viewform

As part of our audience research I made a  questionnaire which is also part of my primary research. The questionnaire feature various questions based on the film Coraline which was released 2009. It also featured some questions so that I could get some demographics about the people who answered the questions. Unfortunately I could only manage to get some people who were in my class to answered it so all the results are similar.  I don't have anyone who isn't local to here or of not a similar age.

Questionnaire Result's:

Unfortunately I only managed to get 6 people to do my questionnaire which was upsetting however it does make it easier to write up the results I suppose.

Demographic Question's:

5 Out Of 6 People Were Teenagers (15-18 Years old) and the other person was Middle Aged Adult (36-50 Years Old).

3 Out Of 6 People Were Male, The Rest Female.

Other Question's:

Everyone from questionnaire thought that the genre of the film was Fantasy and not a horror film. However some people do think from other reviews that I have read online that they would class it as a mild horror.

I had asked people what they think is the most important feature on a Film review site, these were some of the answers I got.

" A Short Story Describing The Film "
" A Rating system, as it gives an average score of the film."
" Being able to write a user review."
" Detail and description of the film."
" Plot & Film Style"
" A Rating"

From that piece of information you can see that people think that having some from of rating system is important as well having a description about the about the main film plot.

The other open question which I had asked on the questionnaire was, "If your on a website of a cinema, What do you think is the most important feature?" This is the answers I got:
" How long the film is "
" Screening times as it shows the best times for you."
" A list of things in the cinema as well as the times they start "
" A good selection of films on display "
" Synopsis of the film, time shown, length of the film or when the film finishes. "

What you can see from that question is that people seem to think a lot about when then film starts and the length of it.

I had another demographic question where I wanted to find out what the most popular film genre was, and from the results I found out that action was the most popular genre. The results I have taken into an excel document and created a pie chart with it below.
